Three generations of family heritage

A family story, reimagined for hospitality.

From a Johannesburg bathroom boutique to a new generation of hospitality linen, our story begins with people who understood that everyday textiles should feel extraordinary. Ettye Fisher, Benita Wise and now Steven Wise connect three chapters of that family story.

The House · Our heritage

From the original boutique to Bathroom Boutique Creations.

Some businesses begin with a product. Ours begins with a family and a belief that the towels we use, the gown we slip into and the beach towel we take into the sunshine are part of how a place makes us feel.

Bathroom Boutique became part of Johannesburg's retail story. By October 1984, contemporary newspaper reports placed it in Sandton City, with Ettye Fisher and Benita Wise named in its history. Its advertisements show a lively world of fine towels, comfortable gowns, beach towels, bathroom accessories and carefully chosen lifestyle pieces. The boutique was about more than filling shelves: it brought practical essentials and small luxuries together in one personal shopping experience.

Under Benita's association with the business, that spirit was visible in the press throughout the middle of the decade. A 1986 feature described the specialist shop on Sandton City's Lower Level; a 1987 article captured how its selection had expanded well beyond the bathroom. These surviving newspaper pages preserve the products, personalities and unmistakable character of the original store.

Today, the third-generation story continues with Steven Wise. In February 2026, Bathroom Boutique Creations was established as a new company, carrying the family heritage into a different setting: South Africa's hotels, lodges, spas, gyms and considered residential spaces. Our ambition is to connect these properties with exceptional international luxury linen, specialist spa textiles and Bathroom Boutique Creations collections, supported by informed specification and a guided, personal service. A new chapter, inspired by the original boutique's belief that quality and care belong together.

The early family chapter

Ettye: where the story takes root

Ettye Fisher and Benita Wise are named together in a recorded Rosebank company reference from 1967. Its original registry record remains to be recovered, so we do not present that year as the shop's founding date. It is a meaningful early trace of the family business from which our story grows.

Benita: a boutique with a character of its own

Newspaper photographs and advertisements bring the original Bathroom Boutique to life. They place the shop in Sandton City and name Benita Wise and Mrs E Fisher. Alongside bathroom fittings and accessories, customers found thoughtfully chosen towels, gowns, Brazilian beach towels and pieces made for holidays, home and everyday comfort.

1986–1987 · A growing collection

So much more than a bathroom boutique

The surviving press shows a specialist shop on Sandton City's Lower Level with a widening world of beautiful textiles and lifestyle essentials. From beach towels and towelling gowns to swimwear and accessories, the collection followed the way customers lived. The thread running through it was a personal approach to comfort, choice and presentation.
